Glasstress 2017: the opening and the exhibition

We inaugurated Glastress 2017 with Fondazione Berengo at Palazzo Franchetti in Venice on 10 May with the presence of well known international artists from more than 15 different nationalities, gallerists, collectors and important VIP guests.

The image chosen to represent the collective exhibition is a work of art made in glass by the Human Rights activist and artist Ai Weiwei.

Major highlights this year include the participation of Belgian artist Koen Vanmechelen who produced a spectacular installation called “Protected Paradise” with a caged egg that symbolises a jeopardized present and exploring recycling and sustainability in the gardens of Palazzo Franchetti supported by ECO-oh!. The same artisit is preparing a donation of a work of art to our institution in the near future.

As part of the exhibition, French artist Loris Gréaud makes his “Glasstress” debut, bringing an abandoned glass furnace back to life with his immersive installation “The Unplayed Notes Factory” (opening: 12 May at 11.00 am).

Glasstress is open to the public from 11 May to 26 November 2017, at Palazzo Franchetti, San Marco 2847 daily 10.00 am - 6.30 pm, and at Berengo Exhibition Space with The Unplayed Notes Factory, a solo exhibition by Loris Gréaud, Campiello della Pescheria, Murano, Saturday - Monday 1.00 - 4.00 pm. And it is the framework for the HumanRightStress chapter that unify arts with human rights.
