About:

Nikolay Natov received his PhD from the Sofia University St Kliment Ohridski in 1986. In 1987 he took up the position of assistant-professor at the same University. After a period of 8 years he became an associate-professor in Private International Law at the Sofia University. He keeps his position at the same University till now. Since becoming associate-professor he has taught extensively at all levels, with specialist modules focusing on international investment, transnational corporations, international commercial arbitration, intellectual property, international transport. In 2004 he became full professor at the same University. He has published five books, the most recent of which is Commentaries on the Code of Private International Law, Part one, CIELA, 2005.

Research Expertise and Interests

His research interests lie primarily in the field of private (civil and commercial) relations with cross-border implications, and he is currently researching on the law of international investment, international commercial arbitration and human rights as well as on the qualification as a general problem of private international law. Other more private passions include theater and fitness.

Teaching

Professor Natov is teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the following areas: Private International Law, Law of International Investment, International Commercial Arbitration, International Protection of Intellectual Property, International Business Negotiations, Air and Space Law. He is also supervising research on various aspects of Private International Law, International Commercial Arbitration, Law of International Investment, particular issues relating to transnational corporations and human rights.

Professor Natov is a head of the International Arbitration Court attached to the Legal Interaction Alliance, Sofia, Bulgaria. He is also an attorney-at-law at Sofia Bar, Bulgaria.
